Smartlead Integrations: HubSpot, Clay, Zapier and API

Smartlead integrations connect the cold email platform to CRMs such as HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive, to data tools such as Clay, and to over 1,000 apps through Zapier. Developers can also use webhooks, a REST API and an MCP server for Claude. CRM access, the API and webhooks start on the Pro plan, so Base users rely on CSV uploads.

What are Smartlead integrations?

Smartlead integrations are connections that move leads, replies and campaign events between Smartlead and other tools without manual exports. Smartlead’s integrations page lists native connections across CRMs, data providers, LinkedIn tools, communication apps and mailbox providers, plus Zapier, webhooks and an API for anything not on the list.

The listed integrations fall into five groups:

  • CRM integrations: HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Attio, Zoho CRM, GoHighLevel and Insightly sync leads and campaign activity into the pipeline a sales team already uses.
  • Data and enrichment tools: Clay, Anymail Finder, LeadMagic, Listkit and ZenRows feed verified or enriched prospects into Smartlead campaigns alongside the built-in SmartProspect database.
  • LinkedIn and calling tools: Waalaxy, Expandi and GetSales.io connect LinkedIn outreach to email sequences, while CloudTalk and Dialpad move warm leads into calls.
  • Team and workflow apps: Slack, Notion, ClickUp, Cal.com, Intercom, Supabase and Zapier carry reply alerts, tasks and booking links into the tools a team works in daily.
  • Mailbox providers: Gmail, Outlook, Zapmail, Hyperinboxes, Mailreef, Inbox Automate and InfraInbox cover connecting existing inboxes or buying new domains and mailboxes.

In short, Smartlead covers the main CRM, data and alert tools natively and leaves the long tail to Zapier and the API.

Which Smartlead integrations are native?

Native Smartlead integrations are the tools listed on Smartlead’s own integrations page, set up from inside the app or the partner tool without a third-party connector. The table below groups every listed integration by job, checked against the page in October 2026.

The list leans toward sales and outbound tools, which matches Smartlead’s focus on agencies and SDR teams rather than marketing automation.

Two common tools are missing. Hunter.io has no native integration, so Hunter leads travel by CSV upload, Zapier, Clay or the API. Make (formerly Integromat) is not listed either, although Smartlead’s help center publishes an n8n guide and webhooks can feed Make scenarios.

If a tool is not in this table, plan on Zapier, webhooks or the API rather than a one-click connection.

Which Smartlead plan unlocks integrations?

Smartlead unlocks CRM access, the API and webhooks on the Pro plan and above, at $94 a month. The $39 Base plan includes none of them, so Base users move leads by CSV upload and watch replies in the Master Inbox. Mailbox connections through Gmail, Outlook and SMTP work on every plan.

The jump from Base to Pro is the integration line: everything that syncs automatically sits on the paid side of it.

Clay also needs a Smartlead API key, so it effectively requires Pro as well. Our Smartlead pricing breakdown shows what else changes between the two plans, and the Smartlead review explains where Base still makes sense.

Teams that need any automated sync should budget for Pro from day one.

How does the Smartlead HubSpot integration work?

The Smartlead HubSpot integration is a native sync that pushes leads, email activity and deals from Smartlead campaigns into a HubSpot portal. It is set up from the Integrations tab by choosing HubSpot under native integrations and selecting the HubSpot instance to connect.

Five rules from Smartlead’s help center shape how the sync behaves:

  • Per-campaign switch: Sync is enabled per campaign at lead import with the toggle to create the lead in HubSpot, and it cannot be added to a campaign mid-flight.
  • Automatic deal creation: Smartlead can create HubSpot deals automatically when a lead lands in a chosen category, placing each new deal in the pipeline stage selected during setup.
  • Email activity logging: Sent and replied emails are logged in HubSpot as Email activities, so reps see the full cold email thread on the contact record.
  • Engagement notes: Opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces are logged as Notes on the HubSpot contact, which keeps engagement history next to the deal.
  • No stage automation: Smartlead does not move deals between stages after creating them, so pipeline progression stays a HubSpot workflow or a manual rep task.

HubSpot sync is reliable for logging and deal creation, while stage changes stay inside HubSpot.

Salesforce, Pipedrive and other CRM options

Smartlead’s other CRM options cover Salesforce, Pipedrive, Attio, Zoho CRM, GoHighLevel and Insightly. The integrations page describes Salesforce as a native bi-directional sync, Pipedrive as a real-time sync with 49 native tools, and the rest as syncs of contacts, activity and pipeline data.

Salesforce users have a second route. OutboundSync, also listed on the page, syncs Smartlead activity into both HubSpot and Salesforce, and Smartlead’s integrations FAQ points Salesforce users to it.

GoHighLevel stands out for agencies, since the page positions it for running outbound sequences for clients from one platform. Attio and Zoho CRM sync contacts, activities and deal stages as campaigns run.

Every major sales CRM has a native path, though Salesforce teams should compare the native sync with OutboundSync.

How do you connect Clay to Smartlead?

Connecting Clay to Smartlead means adding Smartlead as a connection inside Clay with a Smartlead API key, then exporting enriched table rows straight into a campaign. Because the connection relies on the API, it requires a Smartlead plan with API access, which starts at Pro.

The setup takes five steps, based on Smartlead’s help center:

  1. Generate an API key: Create a Smartlead API key in the Smartlead settings, since Clay authenticates every request to the Smartlead account with that single key.
  2. Open Clay connections: In Clay, go to Settings, then Connections, then Add Connection, and choose Smartlead from the list of available integrations.
  3. Paste the key: Paste the Smartlead API key into the connection form so Clay can read campaigns and send leads into the right Smartlead account.
  4. Create the campaign first: Set up the destination campaign in Smartlead before exporting, because Clay can only add leads to a campaign that already exists.
  5. Export with Add Lead To Campaign: From a Clay table, export to Smartlead and choose the Add Lead To Campaign action, mapping columns to Smartlead lead fields.

Clay plus Smartlead is a clean enrichment-to-send pipeline, as long as the campaign exists before the export runs.

Zapier, n8n and no-code automation

Zapier is the main no-code route for Smartlead integrations that are not native, connecting Smartlead to over 1,000 apps. It can push or pull lead and campaign data without code, although Smartlead’s help center still labels its Zapier setup guide as a beta feature.

For teams that prefer self-hosted automation, Smartlead’s help center publishes a step-by-step n8n guide. Make is not on the integrations page, so Make users usually catch Smartlead webhooks in a scenario and call the API for actions.

Zapier covers most gaps quickly, and n8n or webhooks take over when volume or logic outgrows it.

Webhooks and the Smartlead API

Smartlead webhooks are event notifications that send a JSON payload to an endpoint URL whenever a tracked event happens in a campaign. The REST API works the other way, letting outside systems create campaigns, add leads and read data. Both are available on Pro and above.

Five technical details matter when building on Smartlead:

  • Webhook setup path: Webhooks are created under Settings, then Webhook, then Add Webhook, with a name, a campaign, the events to track and an endpoint URL.
  • Webhook scope: Each webhook can be assigned to campaigns, clients or users, which lets agencies route events for one client to that client’s own systems.
  • API base and auth: The API base URL is server.smartlead.ai/api/v1, and requests authenticate with an api_key query parameter generated in the Smartlead settings.
  • Rate limits: Smartlead’s API docs list a standard limit of 60 requests per minute and 1,000 per hour, with a higher tier at 120 per minute and 3,000 per hour.
  • Client-level keys: Agencies can issue one API key per client through API Key Management, each limited to 60 requests per minute by default.

Smartlead also offers a command-line tool, the Smartlead CLI, for managing campaigns from the terminal. Agencies using client keys can read more in our Smartlead for agencies guide.

Webhooks push events out and the API pulls or writes data, so most custom builds use both together.

What can the Smartlead MCP server do?

The Smartlead MCP server is a Model Context Protocol connection that gives Claude Desktop live access to a Smartlead account. Smartlead says it exposes 116+ tools across 6 categories, covering campaigns, sending accounts, lead lists and deliverability data, so Claude can answer questions and take actions on real account data.

Setup follows Smartlead’s help center: generate an API key under Settings, then API Keys; open Claude Desktop, then Settings, Developer and Edit Config; and add an npx mcp-remote entry pointing to Smartlead’s MCP endpoint with the API key. It needs Node.js installed and uses an SSE connection only.

Inside the app, SmartAssistant covers similar ground without any setup. It is a chat panel included on every plan, including trials, that can create campaigns, write sequences, add leads and run diagnostics on spam, warmup, DNS and webhooks.

MCP suits teams already working in Claude, while SmartAssistant gives everyone else an AI layer inside Smartlead.

Slack alerts and team notifications

The Slack integration sends real-time Smartlead reply and lead notifications into chosen Slack channels, so the team sees positive replies without watching the inbox. A separate SmartAgents Slack app connects Smartlead’s AI agents to Slack for scheduled or event-based updates.

The Master Inbox adds its own outbound feeds: replies can be pushed to a CRM with thread context, sent as Slack alerts or synced to Google Sheets. Our Smartlead Master Inbox guide shows how to filter replies before they reach Slack, so channels only light up for interested leads.

Slack alerts are the fastest way to cut reply response time, especially when filtered to positive categories.

Lead data and LinkedIn integrations

Lead data integrations bring verified prospects into Smartlead, and LinkedIn integrations connect social touches to email sequences. Smartlead pairs its built-in SmartProspect database with native partners for finding, enriching and verifying emails, and with LinkedIn tools that pass prospects between channels.

Five integrations do most of the work on the data and LinkedIn side:

  • SmartProspect: Smartlead’s built-in prospect finder lists 300M+ verified business profiles, charges 1 credit per verified contact and pushes results straight into campaigns.
  • Anymail Finder: Anymail Finder verifies and enriches prospect emails before they enter a Smartlead campaign, which helps reduce bounces and protect sender reputation.
  • Listkit: Listkit combines its verified contact data with Smartlead’s sending engine, so a list can move into a live campaign without spreadsheet handling.
  • Waalaxy: Waalaxy runs coordinated LinkedIn and email sequences, pushing LinkedIn prospects into Smartlead campaigns once they reach the right stage in a sequence.
  • Expandi: Expandi imports leads from Smartlead for LinkedIn outreach and exports leads back into Smartlead email campaigns for multichannel follow-up.

Hunter users take a manual route, since there is no native connection: export Hunter results to CSV and upload them into a campaign, or use Zapier, Clay or the API. The Hunter and Smartlead workflow walks through it, and our Hunter review and Waalaxy review cover both tools in depth.

Native data partners save CSV steps, while Hunter and other finders still work through uploads or Zapier.

Mailbox and infrastructure integrations

Mailbox integrations are the connections that let Smartlead send from Gmail, Outlook and SMTP inboxes, or buy new domains and mailboxes inside the app. Gmail and Outlook connect through one-click OAuth, and every plan includes unlimited email accounts, so connecting more inboxes never raises the plan price.

Free @gmail.com accounts cannot use OAuth and connect through SMTP with an app password instead. For new infrastructure, SmartSenders partners such as Zapmail offer fresh Google or Outlook mailboxes from $4.50 per mailbox per month plus $13 per domain per year. Our guide to connecting Gmail to Smartlead covers the Google Workspace admin steps.

Mailbox connections work on every plan, which makes them the one integration category that Base users get in full.

Which Smartlead integrations should you set up first?

The Smartlead integrations to set up first are the CRM sync, Slack reply alerts and a lead source, because they remove the most manual work in the first week. Webhooks, the API and MCP come next, once the team knows which events and reports it actually needs.

Five integrations, in a sensible order of setup:

  • Mailbox connection: Connect Gmail or Outlook through OAuth first and start warmup, since every other integration depends on mailboxes that are already healthy.
  • CRM sync: Turn on HubSpot or another native CRM before importing leads, because HubSpot sync cannot be added to a campaign after it starts.
  • Slack reply alerts: Route positive replies into a Slack channel so the team responds quickly, filtering out out-of-office and unsubscribe replies first.
  • Lead source: Connect Clay, Listkit or another data partner, or use SmartProspect, so new prospects flow into campaigns without manual spreadsheet work.
  • Webhooks and API: Add webhooks and API automations last, once reporting needs are clear, to avoid building fragile workflows around events nobody reads.

Frequently asked questions

The 12 most-asked questions about Smartlead integrations.

Does Smartlead integrate with HubSpot?

Yes. Smartlead has a native HubSpot integration set up from the Integrations tab. It can create deals automatically by lead category, logs sent and replied emails as activities, and logs opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces as notes. Sync must be enabled per campaign when leads are imported.

Does Smartlead integrate with Salesforce?

Yes. Smartlead’s integrations page describes a native bi-directional sync with Salesforce for leads, campaign activity and replies. OutboundSync, also listed on the page, is a second option that syncs Smartlead activity into both Salesforce and HubSpot. Teams with custom fields should test both routes.

Which Smartlead plan includes the API?

The API and webhooks are included on Pro and above, starting at $94 a month. The $39 Base plan does not include API access, webhooks or CRM access, so Base users rely on CSV uploads and the Master Inbox instead of automated syncs.

Does Smartlead integrate with Zapier?

Yes. Zapier connects Smartlead to over 1,000 apps for pushing and pulling lead and campaign data without code. Smartlead’s help center still labels its Zapier setup guide as beta, so test each Zap before relying on it for live campaigns.

Does Smartlead integrate with Make?

Make is not listed on Smartlead’s integrations page or in its help center as of October 2026. Teams that use Make can catch Smartlead webhooks in a scenario and call the Smartlead API for actions. Smartlead does publish a guide for n8n as another automation option.

How do I connect Clay to Smartlead?

In Clay, go to Settings, Connections, Add Connection, choose Smartlead and paste a Smartlead API key. Then export a Clay table to Smartlead with the Add Lead To Campaign action. The destination campaign must already exist, and the API key requires the Pro plan or higher.

Is there a Smartlead integration for Hunter.io?

No. Hunter.io has no native Smartlead integration as of October 2026. Export Hunter results as a CSV and upload them into a Smartlead campaign, mapping columns to fields, or move leads through Zapier, Clay or the Smartlead API instead, which suits teams that move Hunter leads every week.

What is the Smartlead MCP server?

The Smartlead MCP server connects Claude Desktop to a Smartlead account through the Model Context Protocol. Smartlead says it offers 116+ tools across 6 categories. Setup needs a Smartlead API key, Node.js and an mcp-remote entry in Claude Desktop’s config file.

Does Smartlead support webhooks?

Yes, on Pro and above. Webhooks are created under Settings, Webhook and Add Webhook, with a name, campaign, events and endpoint URL. Each event sends a JSON payload, and webhooks can be assigned to campaigns, clients or users, which suits agencies routing events per client.

What are the Smartlead API rate limits?

Smartlead’s API docs list a standard limit of 60 requests per minute and 1,000 requests per hour, with a higher tier allowing 120 per minute and 3,000 per hour. Client-level API keys for agencies default to 60 requests per minute each.

Can Smartlead send Slack notifications?

Yes. The Slack integration sends real-time reply and lead notifications to chosen Slack channels. The Master Inbox can also push replies to Slack, a CRM or Google Sheets, and a separate SmartAgents Slack app connects Smartlead’s AI agents to Slack.

Does Smartlead integrate with LinkedIn tools?

Yes. Smartlead’s integrations page lists Waalaxy, Expandi and GetSales.io, which pass prospects between LinkedIn outreach and Smartlead email sequences. These partners handle the LinkedIn steps, while Smartlead handles the email side of the multichannel campaign, keeping each prospect in a single coordinated sequence.
